JUDGE HUBER DEATH: Judge Raymond S. Huber passed away on Dec. 5, 2025. He has served on the Waupaca County Circuit Court bench since 2000. FOOD STAMP LIST RELEASE: Republican Rep. Tom Tiffany, who is also running for governor, asked Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers to release the FoodShare data that President Donald Trump wants. The Trump Administration has asked for a wide swath of information about food stamp programs in the states, including social security numbers and immigration status for the 700,000 people on food stamps in Wisconsin. BRADYN’S LAW: Surrounded by family, friends, and supporters, Gov. Tony Evers on Monday, Dec. 8, signed “Bradyn’s Law” (2025 Wisconsin Act 48), creating a new crime of sexual extortion in Wisconsin in honor of 15-year-old D.C. THANK THE NORWEGIANS: The concept of elves got its start in Northern Europe, from early Norse mythology to the Germanic folklore of the Middle Ages. Elf myths varied by region, and were often told in conjunction with fairy folklore, and were mostly volatile troublemakers. Hence, our current Elf on the Shelf dates back to 2005. In Scandinavian mythology, elves are typically portrayed as powerful, supernatural beings, and they often use music and dancing as a way to enchant and ensnare humans. It wasn’t until the 1800s that elves began to be associated with Christmas.
