ROAD WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS: Casey Beyersdorf, Highway Commissioner for Waupaca County Highway Department, has announced that Spring weight limit restrictions will begin Monday, March 9, at 12:01 a.m. When the highways become firm, the Spring weight limit restrictions will be lifted.
GROUNDWATER CONTAMINATION: Waupaca County Republican Party chair and ag businessman Joel Bartel announced on his Facebook page that he has “submitted an open records request to Waupaca County and have uncovered information that raises serious concerns about the potential for groundwater contamination — possibly in the near future.” He promises to release a video on Thursday, March 5, about the County Board and “what was approved, what it means for our community, and why it matters.”

ONLINE BETTING: A new Marquette University poll shows that 64 percent of Wisconsin voters oppose legalizing online sports betting in the state. The poll asked questions of 818 Wisconsin registered voters between Feb. 11-19. Read The Center Square article here.
WISCONSIN NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYED: Defense officials confirmed Wisconsin Army National Guard units are deployed to Kuwait and Iraq under U.S. Central Command. About 650 soldiers from two Wisconsin battalions are involved, according to former military leaders. Read the WKBT news story here.
AG BAILOUT FUNDS: Farm aid promised last December is still months away from being paid out to fruit and vegetable growers. But industry groups say it won’t be enough to get them through tough market conditions. Read the Wisconsin Public Radio story here.
DMV REGISTER VOTERS: Wisconsin Democrats have introduced Senate Bill 925/Assembly Bill 920, aiming to automatically register eligible residents to vote when they interact with Department of Transportation agencies, such as renewing a driver’s license or vehicle registration. Authored by Sen. Jeff Smith and Rep. Clinton M. Anderson, the proposal would electronically transfer information to election officials, creating or updating voter records unless individuals opt out.
