- HOLIDAY SHOPPING: Silver Lake Lanes Holiday Shopping Spree is Sunday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- PUMPS FUEL SCHOOL: A donation of more than $1,000 was given by the Iola Cenex and Scandinavia C Store locations to the Iola-Scandinavia School District from use of the Spirit Pumps at these locations!
- CHRISTMAS PARADE: Iola’s annual Christmas Parade & Santa Visit will take place on Saturday, December 3rd. The parade will start at 4:30 p.m. Kids can see Santa and receive a free goodie bag at the Iola Historical Society’s machine shed building after the parade.
- YARD WASTE: Iola Village residents, there is a brush pile located on Townline Road for you to dump your brush; however, this location is not for leaves. Please make sure when dumping your brush off that you keep it off the roadways. Debris piles for other items are located on Grove Street across from the Methodist Church for anyone wishing to dump pine needles, garden refuse, flower clippings, etc. Please dump your items on the appropriate piles.
- IOLA RECYCLING CENTER HOURS: Thursday’s 1-4 p.m. and Saturday’s 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Recyclables are free to drop off at the Recycling Center. Recyclables need to be sorted. Please do not leave caps on plastics (throw them away if they are small), even though they are marked recyclable they are not able to run through the bailers when the plastics are bailed; causing problems with the machines. Trash garbage tags are available at the Recycling Center, Depot Street Station, Iola Sentry Foods, or the Clerk’s Office. The cost is $15 for five tags. These trash bags can be dropped at the recycling center during normal recycling hours.
- IOLAPARKS: Visit Olson Park at 405 Water Street and check out the new pickle ball courts. Bring your teams down for an afternoon match. Work is continuing at Rosie Paw Dog Park, located at the corner of South Townline Road and West Iola Street. The Parks Department is continuing to raise funds for these two new additions to the Iola Parks System. Donations can be made at the clerk’s office or at one of the many donation points located within various Iola local businesses. Please keep checking the Village website for upcoming raffles and events sponsored by the Parks Department.
- CHESTER L. KRAUSE LEGACY PARK: Work has begun on the new Chester L. Krause Legacy Park located across the street from the Thirsty Perch. Plans include a wall mural, monument of Chet, flag area, and picnic spaces/shelter in the park. Completion is projected to be in 2023, the 100th anniversary of Chet’s birth. Fundraising has begun. If you are interested in donating, please stop by the Clerk’s Office, or send to the Village of Iola, P.O. Box 336, Iola, WI 54945. Gifts for the park are tax deductible. No tax money will be used for the building of this park.
