Town of Scandinavia May 13 meeting minutes

Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Town Board met on Wednesday, May 13, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center. Chairman Gary Marx called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to accept Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Mike Mazemke provided the Treasurer’s report for April 2020. Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried. 

Planning Commission Report – nothing to report.

Road Issues: Road patching is being done. Waupaca County Highway Department will finish installing the new road signs. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation confirmed funding up to a limit of $89,458.10 for the local project on Hi Corners Road from the 2020-21 Town Road Improvement Discretionary Program (TRID), which is component of the Local Roads Improvement Program (LRIP).

Old Business

Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard – nothing to report

Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard – nothing to report.

Highway 49 (Scandinavia to Iola) project scheduled for 2020 after the Iola Car Show: date has been changed to 2022.

Municipal Center: Village has requested a quote for the Village Hall parking lot from Faulks Brothers Construction, which is being reviewed by both Boards. US Cellar will be installing the booster.

New Business

Silver Lake Lanes liquor and operators’ license renewal is in process and will be reviewed by the Board at the June meeting. 

Iola Old Car Show, Inc. Temporary Liquor License application will be reviewed by the Board for the dates of July 10-13, 2020, at the June meeting.

Frank Bauer a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (May expenses), Lashua Inc. (winter maintenance), Lashua Excavating Inc (highway maintenance), Waupaca County Highway (winter maintenance), Waupaca County Post (notices), Waupaca County Treasurer (elections). Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the following was reviewed: Land Use Permit Application from Dale and Patricia Hettinger, Jeff Berrens, and Mark and Marcia Sabin. Discussion on putting additional warning signs on Kenwood Drive waiting for response from requester.

The June 2020 Town Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 10, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center at 5:30 p.m.

Frank Bauer moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Meeting adjourned.
