Town of Scandinavia July 12 meeting minutes

Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Town Board met on Wednesday, July 12, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center. Present board members Frank Bauer (via phone), Brenda Mazemke, Mike Mazemke, and Bryan Fuhs.

The meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Bryan Fuhs made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion was seconded by Frank Bauer. Motion carried.

Fuhs made a motion to accept the Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Bauer. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report provided by Mike Mazemke for June 2023. The bank balance as of June 30, was $25,925.35. Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Fuhs. Motion carried.

Road Issues: There are few roads that need to be addressed, because of potholes.

Old Business

Vandyke Junk Yard Salvage Yard status had nothing to report.

Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard status had nothing to report.

The Brekke Lake ordinance discussed and the sign has been installed

Board of Review will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6-8 p.m. Open Book will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 9-11 a.m.

New Business

Set the date for the Annual Joint Meeting with Village of Scandinavia for Monday, Sept. 18, at 5 p.m. as proposed by the Town.

The Town of Scandinavia Board and Planning Commission open positions in 2025 was table until August meeting.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (June expense), Rural Mutual Insurance Co (insurance), Depot Street Station (highway expense), Waupaca County Treasurer (highway expense), Humane Society of Waupaca County (dog), Old Republic Surety Group (bond insurance), and Scott Construction (highway expense). We will pay Scott Construction $20,000, and the rest in August when we get our Waupaca County August Settlement. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the following was reviewed: Land Use Permit Application from Cody and Heather Sharpless, and Lee Huberty.

The fire chief reported that the Scandinavia Fire Department is still on track to purchase a firetruck in 2024.

The August Board meeting will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 5:30 p.m.

Bauer moved to adjourn. Motion seconded by Fuhs. Meeting adjourned.
