The Scandinavia Town Board will convene at the Scandinavia Municipal Center on Wednesday, Aug. 9, for their regular monthly meeting. The meeting will commence promptly at 5:30 p.m. and will delve into a comprehensive agenda aimed at addressing crucial matters concerning the town.
The meeting will open with a procedural point, the Approval of the Agenda, followed by a review of the previous month’s proceedings through the Clerk’s Minutes. Financial matters will also be at the forefront of the discussion as the board examines the Treasurer’s Report. The Planning Commission’s recent activities will be summarized in the Planning Commission Report, highlighting ongoing and future development plans for the town.
The board will then shift its focus towards concerns about the town’s roads. The discussion will revolve around current road issues, and potential solutions will be examined to enhance the town’s infrastructure.
In the Old Business segment of the meeting, specific issues will be revisited. The status of the Vandyke Junk/Salvage Yard and the Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard might both be examined.
The meeting will also announce important dates for upcoming events. The Board of Review will be scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 6-8 p.m. Preceding this, the Open Book session will be set for Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 9-11 a.m.
A date for the Annual Joint Meeting with the Village of Scandinavia may be set.
The board may discuss the upcoming vacancies within the Town of Scandinavia Board and Planning Commission, slated for the year 2025. These positions will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the town’s governance and development.
New Business topics will be addressed as well. The Iola Lions Club will present an application for a Temporary Class “B”/Class “B” Retailer’s License for their upcoming Ride for Heroes event at the Iola Car Show Campground. Additionally, the club will seek an Operator’s License for the same event. The request will be met with thorough deliberation by the board.
The meeting will also tackle the matter of Brekke Lake Landing Lighting.
Other routine matters will include the review and approval of bills and the discussion of various correspondences. Public participation will be welcomed during the Public Input segment, enabling residents to express their opinions and concerns.
