Town of Scandinavia Board Oct. 21 minutes

The Scandinavia Town Board met on Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center and via web conference. In attendance Peter Van Dyke, Ryan Braun, and Jason Snyder; and via web conference Ken Van Dyke. Chairman Gary Marx called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the agenda, with a change to move the Silver Lake Lake District agenda item to follow Road Issues. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to accept Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Mike Mazemke provided the Treasurer’s report for September 2021. Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Old Business

Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard – noted in the New Business below

Humane Officer – will continue to look for someone to fill this position. The Waupaca County Humane Society will be contacted, and an ad will be placed in the paper.

New Business

Van Dyke CUP. Bryan Fuhs made a motion to approve the CUP, with changes that the Town Board recommended in the Planning Commission Conditions for Acceptance. Motion was seconded by Frank Bauer. Motion carried.  

Budget Hearing and Special Town Meeting-Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at 5 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.

Scandinavia Firetruck Purchase-Discussed firetruck purchase, Village will not participate. We discussed options on how the truck could buy the truck.

Resolution 2021-2 Ward Boundary Changes-Bryan Fuhs made a motion to accept the resolution as proposed. Motion was seconded by Frank Bauer. Motion carried.

Silver Lake Lake District-Carl Lantz, member of the Silver Lake Lake District Committee, spoke about the lake weed issues and Town of Scandinavia providing some funding, which would be needed in 2022 or 2023. He requested $1,500.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (October expenses and 3rd Quarter sewer), Depot Street Station, LLC (highway maintenance), Faulks Bros. Constructions, Inc. (highway expense), Deluxe (checks), MPIC (insurance), Ricky Ertl (highway maintenance), and Waupaca County Treasurer (highway expense). Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the following was reviewed – Land Use Permit Applications from Tracy and Carol Larsen, and Meredith and John Miller, Notice of Intent to Cut Wood Products from John Rolefson.

The November 2021 Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10, following the Notice of Public Hearing and Special Town Meeting which is at 5 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
