Town of Scandinavia Board minutes of Sept. 20

Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Town Board met on Monday, Sept. 20, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center and via web conference. Chairman Gary Marx called the meeting to order at 7 p.m.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to accept Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Mike Mazemke provided the Treasurer’s report for August 2021. Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Planning Commission Report – There will be a Public Hearing to consider the approval of a Conditional Use Permit Application for outdoor storage of disabled or unused motor vehicles, farm machinery, and collectibles on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2021, at 3 p.m. at the Municipal Center regarding the Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard.

Road Issues – The second mowing first pass has been completed; he is working on the second pass on main roads. All road work has been completed.

Old Business

Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard – noted in the Planning Commission Report above.

Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard – nothing to report.

Highway 49 (Scandinavia to Iola) project scheduled for 2020 after the Iola Car Show – date has been changed to 2022, nothing new to report.

Humane Officer – Town will continue to look for someone to fill this position. The Waupaca County Humane Society will be contacted, and an ad will be placed in the paper.

New Business

Amherst Telephone Fiber Placement Project is working in our township on Nottleson, TuLakes, and Bestul Roads.

Waupaca County Highway Department Annual Fall Meeting is cancelled.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (September expenses), Lashua Excavating, Inc (highway maintenance), Iola Ambulance Service (3rd Quarter Assessment), and Waupaca County Hwy (highway maintenance). Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the following was reviewed: Land Use Permit Applications from Jason and Elizabeth Heschke, Diane and Dean Doersch, Craig and Danielle Mokenstad, Klaudeen Hansen, Mark and Hannah Gutho, Tracie Chapman, and Sally Flanagan, Notice of Intent to Cut Wood Products from David Torrey.

The October 2021 Board meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 5:30 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
