Town of Scandinavia Board May 12 minutes

Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Town Board met on Wednesday, May 12, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center and via web conference. Bryan Fuhs attended via web conference. Public in attendance included Trey Foerster and John and Roxanne Mesyk in person.

Chairman Gary Marx called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the agenda. Motion was seconded by Gary Marx. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to accept Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Gary Marx. Motion carried.

Mike Mazemke provided the Treasurer’s report for April 2021. Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried. 

Road Issues: We have started road work on several roads on our project list. Public input from John and Roxanne Mesyk regarding road work that was done on Foley Road. A request was made to close the road until July 15. Mr. Mesyk agreed to pay toward the cost of road closed to thru traffic signage. Bryan Fuhs made a motion denying road closure. Motion was seconded Frank Bauer. Motion carried. Limestone will be added next week.

Old Business

Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard: The Town Chair and Waupaca County Zoning have met to  discuss the situation and a Conditional Use permit is in the works.

Municipal Center: Frank Bauer made motion to open the Municipal Center effective June 1. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Biennial Bridge Inspection has been completed.

Humane Officer: The Town will continue to look for someone to fill this position.

New Business

Silver Lake Lanes liquor and operators’ license renewal is in process and will be reviewed by the   Board at the June meeting. 

Iola Old Car Show, Inc. Temporary Liquor License application will be reviewed by the Board for the dates of July 8-10, 2021, at the June meeting.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (May expenses), Waupaca County-Treasurer (dog license remittance), and Waupaca County-Treasurer (highway maintenance Highway Department), Kelly Zillmer (Zillmer Assessment Service, assessor), Rent-a-Flash (highway maintenance), B&B Paving Co, Inc. (highway maintenance), and Multi Media Channels, LLC (notices).

Correspondence from the following was reviewed: Land Use Permit Applications from Kevin Kramer, Kevin Finley, Paul and Darlene Meagher, and Gary and Jane Marx.

The June 2021 Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
