Town of Scandinavia Board Aug. 12 minutes

Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Town of Scandinavia Board met on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center. Chairman Gary Marx called the meeting to order at 5:31 p.m.

In attendance were Gene Goode, Bruno family, Scott Paulson, Erik Grenlie, and Chris and Michelle Widoff.

Frank Bauer approved a motion to move agenda item ATV/UTV Town of Scandinavia Ordinance after the Treasurers report and approve agenda. Motion was seconded by Frank Bauer. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to accept Clerk’s minutes. Motion was seconded by Gary Marx.  Motion carried.

Mike Mazemke provided the Treasurer’s report for July 2020.  Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried. 

ATV/UTV Town of Scandinavia Ordinance: In attendance were Gene Goode, Bruno family, Scott Paulson, Erik Grenlie, and Chris and Michelle Widoff. Gene Goode, Northeast & Central Wisconsin ATV/UTV Association, Inc., spoke about the state ordinance and how it works in the state according to current DNR regulations. The Board will review what other communities are doing and discuss any feedback from our residence.

Planning Commission Report: In attendance was Ron Christenson. Bryan Fuhs made a motion to approve a CSM for Leo and Susan Johnson property and the Christenson Farm IR Trust property. Motions seconded by Frank Bauer.  Motion carried.

Road Issues: all project roads are done.

Old Business

Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard – nothing to report

Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard – nothing to report.

Highway 49 (Scandinavia to Iola) project has been changed to 2022.

Municipal Center: The Village of Scandinavia will put the parking lot repair project out for bids and post all necessary notices. Bryan Fuhs made a motion to approve any engineering fees that Faulks may have up to $500 for providing a parking lot quote. Motion seconded by Frank Bauer. Motion carried. Quotes to replace any non-ADA compliant doors with ADA compliant doors, and a hands-free faucet to make one bathroom ADA compliant will be presented at the September meeting.

Annual Joint Meeting with Village of Scandinavia will be held on Monday, Sept. 21, at 5 p.m.

County Building Inspection Service: nothing new to report.

Election Machine: Frank Bauer made a motion to purchase a new optic scan voting machine, which will be shared with the Village of Scandinavia, and be budgeted over the next two years. Bryan Fuhs seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the payment of bills presented including: Village of Scandinavia (August expenses), Scandinavia Fire Department (2% fire dues), Waupaca County Treasurer (highway expense), Iola Ambulance Service (3rd quarter assessment), Rent-A-Flash (highway expense), Town of Iola (highway expense), Lashua Excavating Inc (highway expense), and after the August Settlement is received Scott Construction Inc (hwy exp highway expense). Motion was seconded by Bryan Fuhs. Motion carried.

Correspondence from the following was reviewed: Land Use Permit Applications from Richard Schroeder, John and Mary Makovec, Aaron and Betsy Grant, and Dave Torrey.

The September 2020 Town Board meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center at 5:30 p.m.
