Town of Iola to discuss road maintenance and tractor purchase at Feb. 24 meeting

Town of Iola Hall

The Town of Iola’s monthly board meeting, set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 24, at the town hall, will focus on ongoing road maintenance, snow plowing concerns, and the potential purchase of a new tractor for mowing.

Chairman Mark Sprangers, along with Supervisors Bruce Faldet and Josh Franchuk, Clerk Steve Madson, and Treasurer Denis Walter, will oversee discussions. The meeting will also address financial approvals and upcoming tax review dates.

The session will begin with the call to order and the reading of the open meeting statement, followed by the approval of the agenda and minutes from the previous meeting. Residents will have an opportunity to express their concerns during the public comments section.

A major item under old business will be the town’s road maintenance and snow plowing operations.

Under new business, the board will consider purchasing a tractor for mowing, a decision that could impact the town’s budget and maintenance operations. Officials will likely evaluate costs and potential vendors before making a decision.

Additionally, the board will confirm dates for Open Book (April 22, 9-11 a.m., remote) and the Board of Review (April 29, 6-8 p.m.), which will allow property owners to discuss tax assessments.

The meeting will conclude with the approval of town books and checks, ensuring financial accountability for town operations.
