Town of Iola to address road maintenance and tax assessment

The Town of Iola Board will convene for its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. on March 31, at the town hall. Board members, including Chairman Mark Sprangers, Supervisors Bruce Faldet and Josh Franchuk, Clerk Steve Madson, and Treasurer Denis Walter, will discuss key agenda items such as ongoing road maintenance and snow plowing, upcoming tax assessment reviews, and preparations for the annual town meeting. Officials must approve financial matters, including town books and checks, before adjourning.

One of the central discussions will focus on road maintenance and snow plowing, a longstanding issue in the town. With winter conditions persisting into early spring, the board will likely evaluate the effectiveness of current plowing operations and consider any necessary improvements.

The board will finalize details for the Open Book session, which will take place remotely on April 22, from 9-11 a.m. During this session, property owners will have the opportunity to review their tax assessments and discuss potential discrepancies with the assessor. Following this, the Board of Review is scheduled for April 29, from 6-8:00 p.m., where formal appeals can be made.

Annual Town Meeting Set for April 28

Another major item on the agenda is the preparation for the town’s Annual Meeting, slated for April 28, at 6 p.m. This meeting serves as a platform for residents to engage with town officials, discuss local matters, and provide input on future initiatives.

Before concluding the meeting, board members will review and approve the town’s financial records and authorize the issuance of town checks. These approvals ensure the smooth financial operation of municipal services.

Residents interested in local governance are encouraged to attend the meeting or review the minutes afterward on the town’s website at www.townofiola.com.
