In a decisive move during their regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 30, the Town of Iola Board took significant actions, shaping the financial future of the community.
In a pivotal moment, the Board set a crucial date for the 2023 Levy and 2024 Budget Hearing. Chairman Sprangers proposed Nov. 27 at 6 p.m., a motion swiftly seconded by Supervisor Faldet, ultimately carrying with the support of the entire Board.
Chairman Mark Sprangers called the meeting to order promptly at 6 p.m. Notably, Board Member Bruce Faldet participated remotely via phone, with Denis Walter and Steve Madson also present. However, the absence of Josh Franchuk was noted.
Old Business
Following the agenda’s approval, Chairman Sprangers shifted the focus to the minutes from the September meeting. Supervisor Faldet seconded the motion to approve the minutes, marking the continuation of established practices.
Under the category of Old Business, discussions related to Roads, Bridges, and Snowplowing were tabled, postponing decisions until the upcoming November meeting.
New Business
Clerk Madson presented a series of building and land use permits, involving Nicholas Rooney, James Lashua, Hugh McAloon, Philip and Karen Hayes, and the RDA Hunting Club.
Supervisor Faldet and Chairman Sprangers collaborated on the approval of town books. Subsequently, Chairman Sprangers motioned to pay the monthly bills, a motion seconded by Supervisor Faldet.
With all matters addressed, and there being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
