Town of Iola Hall

The Town of Iola Board convened on July 31 to discuss important matters, including potential changes to recycling services and garbage collection.

Chairman Mark Sprangers called the meeting to order at 6 p.m. on Monday, July 31, at the town hall, with Board members Sprangers, Bruce Faldet, Denis Walter, and Steve Madson in attendance. Absent was Josh Franchuk, while Josh Kampert (chairman of the ATV/UTV Committee) and Rick Ertl (County Supervisor) were also present.

The meeting commenced with Supervisor Faldet proposing the approval of the meeting’s agenda, a motion that was seconded by Sprangers and carried unanimously.

The board also moved forward by approving the minutes from the June meeting, once again with Supervisor Faldet making the motion and Sprangers seconding it, leading to another unanimous decision.

During the public comments section, Kampert reported on the ATV/UTV Committee’s progress, indicating no issues and a smooth operation. County Supervisor Ertl provided an update on county-level matters.

In terms of old business, there were no new updates regarding Roads/Bridges.

However, in new business, the board discussed the possibility of exiting the Iola Recycling Center and exploring the potential of having a single garbage service for the township.

Clerk Madson informed the board about an upcoming public hearing held by the Planning and Zoning Committee for the Amundson/DNR zone map amendment, scheduled for Aug. 8 at 10:30 a.m.

The meeting also saw the approval of the town’s books, carried out by Faldet and Sprangers.

In financial matters, Faldet made a motion to pay the monthly bills, seconded by Sprangers, and once again, the motion carried unanimously.

With no further business to address, the meeting was adjourned.
