The Town of Helvetia Board will convene its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at 7 p.m. at the town hall. Key issues to be addressed include multiple comprehensive planning proposals, a review of the town’s insurance policy, deliberations on implementing township-wide garbage pickup, and significant road repair and maintenance decisions.
The session will be called to order with the traditional Pledge of Allegiance. Following the approval of minutes from the April 1 meeting and a review of town financials and bills, the treasurer is expected to present an update, including information on the CD investment pool.
Three land-use cases will headline the comprehensive planning segment, involving Yah’s Refuge LLC, Olson/Oppor, and Jones. These discussions are anticipated to influence future zoning and development initiatives across the township.
David Loken will present a detailed review of Helvetia’s insurance policy, which could lead to adjustments in coverage or premiums.
One of the most potentially impactful discussions will center on instituting township-wide garbage pickup. Board members are expected to weigh the logistical and financial implications of the service, which could alter waste management practices for residents.
The board will also review upcoming meetings, including the Board of Review set for May 8 and the WTA (Wisconsin Towns Association) gathering on May 15. Reports will be heard about recent fire/ambulance and CWEC meetings.
Town hall maintenance will also be under scrutiny. Justin Hintz is expected to lead discussions on replacing ceiling tiles and spray-foaming joist pockets, while Jeff Oppor will bring a quote for pest control spraying.
Road projects will be a major agenda focus. The board will finalize a bid acceptance for Carper Road through Faulks and approve pulverization work for Astrud and Moen Lake Retreat Roads. Scott’s Construction is set to seal coat several roads, while the Waupaca County Highway Department will address issues on Campbell Lake and Swamp Roads. Additional work, including grading, sign replacements, and ditch clean-up, will also be reviewed.
The Planning Committee, led by Gary Prill, will update the board, followed by an open forum for public input.
