The regular meeting of the Town of Helvetia Board was held on Sept. 1 at the Town Hall, and was called to order by Chairman, Calvin Preuss at 7 p.m.
Notice of meeting date change due to Labor Day was posted as required. All Town board members were present, two town residents were in attendance.
The Board cited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Clerk Doug Hines and approved with a motion by Jeff Oppor, second by Gary Chich.
Town bills were approved and paid with a motion by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor. The Financial and Treasurers reports were given and approved with a motion by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor.
New Business
Nick Achtermeier, from Herters Disposal, was present for delivering a garbage disposal proposal for the Town. However, no one from Graichen disposal was present, so the board decided to table this issue to the next meeting or a special meeting if needed.
Plumbing issues in the Town Hall were fixed by replacing the iron filter, which was plugged up. Also, the board decided to have the water bubbler removed.
A conditional use permit, for John Johnson of Recon boats on Highway 161, was approved with a motion by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor for licensing of selling guns and ammunition.
A culvert on Aasen Road will be replaced on Sept. 2.
A motion was made by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor to grind up the black top on Georgeson Road and add 4inches of lime rock.
Trees need trimming on Roland Road.
Open book will be held on Oct. 4, 2-6 p.m. at the Town Hall and Board of Review will be held Oct. 20 6-8 p.m. at the Town Hall.
Public hearings will be held on Oct. 4 for zoning changes on Thoe and Yanosh properties. Gary Prill, from the Plan Commission, was not present.
