
The Town of Helvetia Board met on Monday, Feb. 6, in the town hall.
Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Calvin Preuss at 7 p.m. All Town board members were present, seven town residents were also in attendance.
The Board cited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Doug Hines, Clerk, and approved with a motion by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor.
Town bills were approved and paid with a motion by Jeff Oppor, second by Gary Chich.
The Treasurers reports were given and approved with a motion by Jeff Oppor, second by Gary Chich.
New Business
The abandonment or Willard Road was on the agenda and approved with a motion by Gay Chich, second by Jeff Oppor. The town’s attorney will process the necessary paperwork.
Fifteen tires were found on Swamp Road, however they were on the Town of Union’s side, so they are responsible. There will be a Town’s association meeting on Feb. 16 and an Iola Fire Dept. meeting on March 30. There were a few snow plowing complaints, more sanding was done where needed.
Gary Prill, of the Plan Commission had nothing to report.
Public Input: There was a suggestion about snowplowing.
The Town books were audited after the regular meeting.
There will be a primary election on Feb. 21.
Next meeting Monday March 6 at 7 p.m.
A motion to adjourn was made by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor.
January 3 Board Minutes
The regular meeting of the Town Board was held at the Town Hall, and was called to order by Chairman, Calvin Preuss at 7 p.m. All Town board members were present, eight town residents were also in attendance.

New Business
An issue with mice in the Town Hall was addressed. Some traps were set and success was had.
A resolution for Willard Rd was tabled due to no contact from the Towns lawyer with the clerk to get the proper posting of notices.
Chad Bestul was present to discuss adding a fuel surcharge to his snowplowing bills. A motion was made by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor to approve the surcharge for diesel fuel.
The Chairman received one bid for a ceiling in the shelter but is waiting for others. Due to some tables in the town Hall being damaged, a motion was made by Jeff Oppor, second by Gary Chich to purchase four new tables.
Gary Prill, of the Plan Commission was not present.
Public Input: There was a complaint about snowplowing.
The Town Caucus is set for Jan. 10 at 7 p.m.
