Town of Helvetia Board Dec. 5 meeting minutes

Town of Helvetia Hall

The regular monthly meeting of the Town of Helvetia Board was held at the Town Hall, and was called to order by Chairman, Calvin Preuss at 7 p.m.

All Town board members were present. Five town residents were also in attendance.

The Board cited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Clerk Doug Hines and approved with a motion by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor.

Town bills were approved and paid with a motion by Jeff Oppor, second by Gary Chich.

The Treasurers reports were given and approved with a motion by Gary Chich, Jeff Oppor.

New Business

Due to an incorrect procedure the wage raises at the budget hearing were rescended.

A special meeting is needed and will be held on Jan. 2, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. for discussing wages for Town workers (not for the board). A motion to approve notice of this meeting was made by Gary Chich, second by Jeff Oppor.

A new fire number was issued for an Aasen Road resident. Maintenance for dead end roads was discussed. More discussion will take place next year on removing sections of Klope, Willard, Preuss and Brevik roads from the Towns responsibility for maintenance.

The Chairman fixed the Preuss Road/Campbell Lake Road sign and post that had been knocked over. A complaint about leaving gravel on Boelter Road after snow plowing by and individual was addressed.

Butchered deer carcasses have been left in several areas in the town. The DNR says let Mother Nature take its course.

Gary Prill of the Plan Commission had nothing new to report.

Public Input

Chad Bestul wants the town to put raising the hourly wage and fuel surcharge for snow plowing on the agenda for January.

The Town Caucus was set for Jan. 10, 2023, at 7 p.m.

Next meeting is Monday, Jan. 2, 2023, at 7 p.m.
