The regular monthly meeting for the Town of Harrison was held on Monday, March 9, at Northland Church.
Present at the meeting were Bob Kasson, Bob Opperman, Dan Dowell, Jon Ann Kasson, Fran Moen, Ken Van Dyke, Mike Schultz, Ann Cassamassa, Krystal Ferg, Tammy Trzebiatowski, and Christopher Thompson. Chairman Dean Lashua called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
The Clerk’s minutes from the previous meeting were read. A motion was made by Ann Cassamassa and second by Mike Schultz to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.
Chris Thompson, district administrator for the Rosholt School District, gave the Board an update on the expenses and revenues of the district and a profile of the 2019 graduates from the school. He stated that the yearly report card they received from the state this year shows that the school is exceeding expectations that are required by the state. He also stated that he is always happy to talk to anyone who has questions concerning the school district. The plan they had to pursue opening a day care in the school has been put on hold. At this time, there are not enough trained staff available to go forward with the project.
The Treasure’s report was given. The beginning balance on Feb. 1 was $382,287.44. Deposits for the month totaled $105,886.63 and the total of the checks and withdrawals was $362,014.84 leaving at balance in the checkbook on Feb. 28 of $126,159.23. The Money Market account had a beginning balance of $31,866.59 and the interest collected for the month was $12.22 leaving a balance in the account of $31,878.81.
Old Business
The Board will be meeting with Brandon Schuster to sign a three-year contract to do road maintenance and winter snow removal starting June 1 through June 1, 2023.
A meeting will be held with Paul Hahn to sign a contract to take on the responsibilities of building inspector for the year 2020.
Dave Hiese has shown interest in being our animal control officer. Ann Cassamassa will meet with him and bring back information for the board at the next meeting on the terms and services he would provide concerning this position.
New Business
Ken Van Dyke spoke to those present on his intent to run for the 14th District Senate seat on Aug. 11. He gave a rundown of his qualifications and what he would like to accomplish if he were to gain the position.
The Annual meeting for the Town of Harrison will be held at Northland Church on Tuesday, April 21, at 6:30 p.m.
Calls and concerns received by the Board during the month were discussed.
A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Cassamassa to adjourn the meeting at 8 p.m. Motion carried.
