Town of Harrison Board March 8 minutes

The regular monthly meeting for the Town of Harrison was held at Northland Church on Monday, March 8.

Chairman Dean Lashua called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Present at the meeting were Rose Troast, John Phillips, Brandon Schurster, Chris Thompson, Rodney Gill, Ann Casamassa, Jon Ann Kasson, Mike Schultz and Fran Moen.

Mr. Chris Thompson, administrator from the Rosholt School District, gave everyone present information on the accomplishments the students and staff have made in the past year and what plans they will be presenting to the public concerning what the district may need in the future. Those present had an opportunity to ask questions.

The Clerk’s minutes from the previous meeting were read. A motion was made by Ann Casamassa and second by Mike Schultz to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report was given. The beginning balance on Feb. 1 was $ 500,141.61. Deposits for the month totaled $111,118.14. The total amount of checks and withdrawals was $437,580.85 leaving a balance in the account on Feb. 28  of $173,678.90. The beginning balance in the Money Market account was $46,964.20. Interest for the month was $7.21 leaving a balance of $46,971.41 in the account.

New Business

Jim Aanstad has retired as the fire chief of the Iola Fire Department and Joe Barden has been appointed to be the new chief.

The Annual meeting will be held at Northland Church on Tuesday, April 20, at 6:30 p.m.

The town is looking into ways to create a new town website. Our website may be unavailable during this time of transition.

A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Casamassa to allow Jon Ann Kasson to apply for a credit card in the town’s name at Bank First Nation in Iola. The card will have a credit limit.

Calls received by the board during the month were discussed.

A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Casamassa to adjourn the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Motion carried.
