Town of Harrison Board Jan. 13 minutes

Northland Lutheran Church

The regular monthly meeting for the Town of Harrison was held on Monday, Jan. 13, at Northland Church.

Present at the meeting were John Phillips, Rose Troast, Lee Halverson, Bob Kasson, Dan Dowell, Mike Schultz, Ann Cassamassa, Jon Ann Kasson, and Fran Moen.  Chairman Dean Lashua called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

The Clerk’s minutes from the previous were read. A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Cassamassa to accept the minutes as read. Motion carried.

The Treasurer’s report was given. The beginning balance on Dec. 1, 2019, was $52,107.49. The total of deposits for the month was $391,085.89 and the total of checks and withdrawals was $32,302.04. The ending balance on Dec. 31, was 410,891.34. The beginning balance in the Money Market Account was $21841.07. Interest collected for the month was $11.99 and $10,000 was moved into the account from the general fund. The ending balance in the account is $31,853.06.

New Business

A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Cassamassa to appoint Sally VanEpern to the election board. Motion carried.

The board was informed that Diane Neelis is not licensed by the state to be in charge of animal control. The Board will look into the matter to see if this affects her ablility to pick up stray dogs in our township.

Paul Hanlon, the building inspector for the town,  has sent a letter of resignation effective March 1, 2020. The Board will contact other inspectors to fill the position.

Calls and concerns received by the board during the month were discussed.

A motion was made by Mike Schultz and second by Ann Cassamassa to adjourn the meeting at 7 p.m. Motion carried.
