RUNNER OF YEAR: Charles Vater of Iola-Scandinavia High School was recognized by the Wisconsin Cross Country Coaches Association as the Division 3 Runner of the Year. Congratulations!

POWERLIFTING 1ST PLACE: Kyrylo “Karl” Rice deadlifted 445 pounds to receive a first place in the 148-pound class in state powerlifting competition and received a total overall score of 970 for combined lifts. Congratulations!

SOFTBAL COACHES NEEDED: The Iola-Scandinavia Recreation Association needs some volunteer coaches for softball and baseball. These are the open positions: Softball – 8u softball (1st and 2nd grade), 14u softball (7th and 8th grade); Baseball – 8u baseball (1st and 2nd grade), 14u baseball (7th and 8th grade).

CHILI COOKOFF: Schmidt’s Corners Chili Cookoff will take place on Saturday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m. Top 3 People’s Choice will win. Cost for attendees $5 as much as you date to eat.

GOT ROLLER SKATES?: I-S Musical Theatre is in need of roller skates, women’s size 9 and men’s size 10.5. Email huettners@iola.k12.wi.us.
