VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Scandinavia Lutheran Church will offer Vacation Bible School Aug. 5-9 from 5-8 p.m. Theme will be “To Mars and Beyond”.

MEMORIAL DAY PARADE: The Iola Memorial Day Parade will occur on Monday, May 27, at 11 a.m., and will have ceremonies at Veterans Memorial Park afterward. At 10 a.m., ceremonies will be held in the Village of Scandinavia at the Old Bridge and a second after in Scandinavia Cemetery. The guest speaker, BJ Elliot Prior, will recall flights to Vietnam and the soldiers who were onboard during the war years.

I-S BOYS BASEBALL: The Iola-Scandinavia Boys Baseball Team was seeded third in the WIAA Playoffs and will have a first-round bye. They will play the winner of Tri-County and Almond-Bancroft.

SHIVERS UPDATE: According to a Facebook post, “We just wanted to let you all know that we are currently working on machine repairs however, due to some mechanical issues we will not be able to open tonight. We should be back up and running by tomorrow afternoon. Thank you all for your understanding!”

WHAT’S MIKE GALLAGHER DOING NOW?: U.S. House Rep. Mike Gallagher, who resigned in April, is now employed by Titletown Tech in Green Bay, where he is a senior strategic adviser. The firm, according to a USA Today Network story, “focuses its investments in areas ranging from manufacturing, construction and supply chain issues to digital health, agriculture and entertainment.”
