MEMORIAL DAY IN IOLA: The annual tribute to military veterans will be on Monday, May 26, co-sponsored by Sheveland-Taylor American Legion Post 14 and the Iola Historical Society. The parade starts at 11 a.m. at the high school and ends at Veterans Memorial Park downtown with a service following. Following that service, the IHS will feature its pork dinner until 2 p.m.at its Depot Street Machine Shed. Military veterans eat free and donations for others are $15 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Sites on the IHS campus will be open for touring.

HISTORICAL MARKER DEDICATION: Native American populations have occupied Central Wisconsin going back 14,000 years. To honor this fact, the Iola Historical Society will be dedicating its latest historical marker on Sunday June 8, at 2 p.m. The location will be in the open area just past bridge #1 of the Lions River Walk, off North Main Street, west of the millpond dam. Regional Archaeologist Dr. Ray Reser will be on hand to help illuminate facts about the various Native American legends of the area and also answer any questions the public may have. There is no cost for the event.
BASEBALL TOURNAMENT PLAY: The Iola-Scandinavia High School Varsity Baseball team is a third seed and will play the winner of Sevastopol and Port Edwards. The game will be at home for the T-Birds.
