HOUSING MIGRANTS FOR ICE IN COUNTY JAIL: The Wisconsin Supreme Court, narrowly split 4-3 along liberal lines, has agreed to hear a case from the American Civil Liberties Union representing an immigrant rights group. The case challenges whether local jails can legally detain immigrants at the request of federal authorities, according to an Associated Press story. In a move bypassing lower courts, the justices voted to take the case as an original action, setting the stage for a key legal battle over the role of local law enforcement in federal immigration enforcement.
