VATER TAKES 1st: Charlie Vater took 1st place in Cross Country at the Iola-Scandinavia High School hosted event at the Iola Winter Sports Club.  The senior paced the Boys 5000m with a time of 15:45.6. Ben Beck placed 11th.

GRAND JUNOR CHAMPION: Peterson Mill 4-H Club’s Ellaina Bestul is the recipient of a Grand Junior Champion award at the Waupaca County Fair for her Holstein. Another club member, Ali Ritchie, won first place.

SAVE THE DATE: Barter Faire is scheduled for Sept. 16 from noon-6 p.m. at Iola Mills. Come trade your wares!

DOG PARK: Volunteers are needed to put up signs, install some obstacles and do weed whacking at the new Iola Dog Park on Saturday, Sept. 2, from 8 a.m. until noon.

STORYWALK BOOK: A new StoryWalk book is featured at Jorgens Park Preserve in Scandinavia. It is “The Smallest Girl in the Smallest Garde” by Justin Roberts. Can one small girl make a difference about the injustices she sees in the world around her?

SAVE THE DATE 2: Iola-Scandinavia Musical Theater will present “Footloose The Musical” Feb. 11-18, 2024.

IOLA CAR SHOW DONATION: $10,090.90 was presented to the Nickle “A” Region Model A Club by the Iola Car Show for the club’s volunteerism and commitment to the show.

ICE AGE TRAIL ALERT: The trail section from Grenlie Road north to Indian Valley Road in the Skunk Foster Lakes SNA Segment will be closed starting Sept. 1, 2023, through Jan. 5, 2024, at the request of the private landowner for hunting. For section and thru-hikers, you are to follow the road route: 1. From the north heading south out of the Skunk Foster SNA: At the SNA south end trailhead on Foley Drive, turn right onto Foley Drive heading south to Grenlie Rd. Left (east) on Grenlie Rd to the Grenlie Rd Trailhead. 2. From the south heading north. When you get to Grenlie Rd., turn left (west) to Foley Drive.
