KORZ LOKEN: Notre Dame is the latest university to extend an offer to Iola-Scandinavia’s Korz Loken to play football. Read the story here. Loken already holds scholarships to the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, Iowa State, Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue, and most recently Florida State. He’s also being courted by The Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama, and Florida.

PAINT PEACE ROCKS: Help the Scandinavia Public Library decorate the library’s front walk with painted peace rocks on Saturday, June 14, starting at 10 a.m.! How many can we make together? Paint extra to take home or hide around our community! Be sure to dress for mess! Families welcome! Ages 8 through adult, but younger children can participate with a caregiver present to help them.

WATERCOLOR DEMONSTRATION: Iola’s renowned watercolor artist Carolyn Rosenberger will have a watercolor demonstration at the Scandinavia Public Library on Tuesday, June 17, starting at 1 p.m.

ART SHOW: Share your creativity with us by participating in the Library Art Show! Open to all ages and all ability levels! Pick up a 4×4-inch art canvas at the library. Decorate it however you want: crayons, markers, paint, mosaic, photo, decoupage, 3-D art, etc. Your imagination is the only limit! Return your original art piece to the library by July 12. The Library Art Show will be available for everyone to view from July 21 to Aug. 29!

STRAWBERRY FEST: Summer kicks off in sweet style on Saturday, June 21, with the return of Waupaca’s highly anticipated Strawberry Fest. Taking place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Waupaca, this family-friendly event is packed with fresh flavor, local charm, and strawberry-themed fun. Visitors can browse up to 150 arts, crafts, and vendor booths while enjoying the delicious offerings of the “Strawberry Lane” food court!  Fresh strawberries and strawberry shortcake will be available for sale.  The historic bandstand on city square will feature open mic performances in connection with the Arts Hub. In addition to the many festival features, visitors are encouraged to explore Waupaca’s local shops and restaurants throughout the day. The farmers market will also be open, offering seasonal produce and locally made goods.
