November 19
In a harmonious blend of music and community, the Iola-Scandinavia area kicks off the week with Vinyl Sunday at Odin & Freja’s Place in Scandinavia. Residents gather to enjoy the nostalgic tunes spun on vinyl records, creating an atmosphere that transcends time.
November 20
The Naomi Circle, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, a sense of unity prevails as the community assembles for a gathering at 1:30 p.m. Meanwhile, later in the evening, the Iola Lions Club holds its monthly meeting, contributing to the well-being of the area through their community initiatives.
November 21
The day starts with a mission to create quilts at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church from 8-11 a.m., showcasing the community’s dedication to philanthropy. In the evening, the Iola-Scandinavia Middle School Boys Basketball team hosts Bonduel at 5 p.m., promising an exciting match. Simultaneously, the JV & Varsity Girls Basketball teams showcase their prowess at Wild Rose at 5:45 p.m.
November 22-24
The Iola-Scandinavia School District takes a break from November 22-24, offering a chance for families to come together and celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
As the school takes a pause, the community continues to thrive with events on Nov. 22 with Preschool Storytime at the Iola Village Library at 10 a.m., a Cribbage Tournament at Silver Lake Lanes at 1 p.m., and an evening filled with Bluegrass at Northland Sports Bar & Grill at 7 p.m.
November 24
On the day after Thanksgiving, creativity takes center stage with Sit-n-Stitch at Iola Village Library at 2 p.m., followed by Family Friday from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at the library. This week’s theme for Family Friday is the creation of personalized cookbooks, combining the joy of cooking with the warmth of family.
November 25
The week concludes with Scandinavia’s Christmas Celebration, where the corner of North Main Street and Highway 49 transforms into a festive hub. Families can meet Santa at 4 p.m., followed by a heartwarming singalong at 5 p.m., marking the beginning of the holiday season.
