Team USA insight and community vision to headline Iola Winter Sports Club annual meeting at Norseman Hill

The chalet at the Iola Winter Sports Club grounds

The Iola Winter Sports Club (IWSC) will host its much-anticipated Annual Meeting on Sunday, May 4, from 2-5 p.m. at the club’s scenic chalet on Norseman Hill (E398 County Road MM, Iola, WI). This gathering will bring together current IWSC members for a day of connection, celebration, and planning as the club reflects on a successful winter season and looks toward its future.

The event will kick off with a social hour from 2-3 p.m., where members will mingle and enjoy refreshments before diving into the business and excitement of the day.

Meeting agenda

Beginning at 3 p.m., the formal portion of the annual meeting will commence with a warm welcome and a recap of the 2024-25 winter season, which saw record participation and notable achievements across the club’s programs.

A highlight of the meeting will be a special presentation by Jesse Coenen, Birkie Medical Director and Team Doctor for Team USA. Coenen is expected to share behind-the-scenes stories from international competition and offer insights into athlete health and performance at the highest level — a rare treat for IWSC members and local sports enthusiasts alike.

The agenda will continue with a recap of the IWSC high school Nordic teams, both boys and girls, celebrating their dedication and competitive success throughout the season.

Members will also receive an update on the Capital Campaign and long-term planning for IWSC. This includes efforts to enhance the club’s facilities and ensure sustainability for years to come. The campaign is a crucial step in supporting the club’s mission of promoting Nordic skiing and winter sports in central Wisconsin.

In addition to strategic updates, the club will recognize the dedicated service of retiring board members and hold elections to vote in new board members, ensuring continued strong leadership.

Following the meeting, the community spirit will continue with a cookout, offering food and beverages for all attendees. It will be a perfect opportunity for members to relax, reconnect, and celebrate the shared passion for winter sports that defines the IWSC.

Organizers ask all attendees to RSVP in advance to help coordinate food and drink. The RSVP link is available here.

Whether you’re a longtime skier, a parent of a Nordic athlete, or a newcomer to the club, this annual meeting promises to be both informative and inspiring — a chance to honor the past season and shape the club’s promising future.
