
Iola-Scandinavia is gearing up for an exciting weekend filled with tantalizing tastes and enchanting melodies at the upcoming “Taste & Tunes” event on July 21-22. Presented by the Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce, this musical extravaganza promises to be a memorable experience for locals and visitors alike.
The event will feature an array of talented musicians performing at various venues throughout Iola-Scandinavia.
On Friday, July 21, the festivities will kick off with Jeff Sachs at Iola Mills at 6 p.m., followed by Kyerokaya at LittleWolf Gallery at 6:30 p.m. Other notable performances include Dammit Jim at Thirsty Perch and John Grove at Schmidt’s Corner, both starting at 7 p.m. Dell & His Sweet Rollers will take the stage at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7:30 p.m., while Gray Catz will entertain the crowd at Mark McCoy’s Flat Tracker Tap at 8 p.m.
Saturday, July 22, promises to be equally captivating, starting with an early morning performance by Eric Smith at Trout Bum Bakery at 9 a.m. ScandiHus will host Skogtroll featuring Desiah Melby at 10 a.m., and Jasmine Aniken will take the spotlight at Iola Sentry at 11 a.m. Jazz enthusiasts can catch Jasmine Aniken once again at Iola Subway at noon, while Lou Shields will serenade the audience at Iola Historical Society, also at noon. Eric Smith will return for a second performance, this time at Crystal Café at 1 p.m., followed by Beautiful Dreamers at 10LA Corner Bar at the same time.
Later in the afternoon, at 2 p.m., students from Lessons from the Art will showcase their talents at Lessons from the Art. As the evening sets in, Fretters will captivate the audience at LittleWolf Gallery at 5 p.m., followed by the Corey Ziemann Band at Iola Mills at 6 p.m. October Tree Music will bring their melodic tunes to Iola Pines Campground at 7 p.m., while Stone Cold Country will keep the energy high at Thirsty Perch at the same time. Djinn Ghost & Friends will provide a captivating performance at Odin & Freja’s Place at 7:30 p.m., and Gray Catz will conclude the evening with a show at Silver Lake Lanes at 8 p.m.
