Sylvia “Syl”, “Sly” C. Thoe

January 21, 1946–November 16, 2023

Sylvia “Syl”, “Sly” C. Thoe, 77, of Waupaca, passed away at home on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2023, due to an aneurysm.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, moved to Waupaca in 1973 and spent winters in Lake Havasu, Arizona, after retirement. Sylvia worked at the First National Bank in Waupaca for 32 years.

She leaves behind her loving and caring husband, Richard Thoe, who has been by her side through the ups and downs in life.  Syl as quoted, “I don’t know what I would have done without him”.  Also left behind is her sister, Norene Wade; and children: Erik (Megan) Thoe, their children, Harlin and Evelyn, Heidi Thoe (Jerry Rutherford) and their children, Ian and Ainsley, Amy (Kent Hollrah) and their children, Sam and Lucy; ex-husband Eddie (Jakubic); brothers-in-law Larry (Renee) Thoe, Gary (Eileen) Thoe; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Sandy Casey. Over the years she made so many friends – “I will miss you all”.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her mother Sonia Wade, father Vito Chuprinskas, sister Veronica Casey, and stepfather Paul Wade.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 11 a.m. at Hitterdahl Lutheran Church in Iola. The Rev. Dale Wilson will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 9-10:45 a.m. at the church on Tuesday Nov. 21.  A memorial fund has been established in Sylvia’s name at the Waupaca Humane Society.

The family would like to thank Theda Care Hospice along with Karin, Rhonda, and Suzzy for the excellent care provided to Sylvia during her final days.
