ANTLER DONATIONS WELCOMED: Deer hunters who don’t want to retain antlers on deer they have harvested can donate them to the Iola Lions for use in training dogs or Leader Dogs for the Blind. You can drop off the antlers at JR’s Sport Shop in Iola.

HUNTERS BE VIGILANT: Waupaca County Sheriff Department deputies are asking hunters to be vigilant during the annual deer hunt for the remains of Jon Morgan, who disappeared over five years ago.

TEACHER OPPORTUNITY: Wisconsin teachers will gain new professional development opportunities in history education, thanks to a nearly $2 million federal grant. The Wisconsin Historical Society and National History Day will launch educator training workshops in 2026-27 across northern and central Wisconsin. Waupaca County is among 17 eligible counties, as Wisconsin is one of just eight states awarded this prestigious grant. Read the story here.

HEALTH CARE COVERAGE: The Wisconsin Senate passed a bill Tuesday, Nov. 18, prohibiting any public money from going toward health care coverage for people in the state illegally. Despite Wisconsin law already preventing undocumented individuals from enrolling in BadgerCare, Wisconsin’s version of the federal Medicaid insurance program, Republicans said they worry Democratic Gov. Tony Evers or the state Department of Health Services may try changing that. Democrats accused the GOP of passing the bill to appease their political base. PASTRY CHEF SUCCESS: A Walworth County-based pastry chef is making waves nationally as he’s set to compete on a new FOX baking show hosted by one of, if not the world’s most famous chef, Gordon Ramsay. Chad Visger will be competing on season 1 of Next Level Baker, a competitive baking show on FOX. The show, hosted by Gordon Ramsay, is judged by Carla Hall and Chef Candace Nelson.
