  • SPIRIT PUMP PROCEEDS: A total of $1,089.66 has been paid by Depot Street Station, LLC to the Iola-Scandinavia School District. It represents two cents for 54,483.12 gallons of gas purchased in Iola and Scandinavia for the third quarter of 2022. Thanks Depot Street Station!
  • $10K DONATION: The Krause Foundation has donated $10,000 to the Scandinavia Booster Club for Sentra Park in the Village of Scandinavia. The funds will be used towards the purchase and installation of $100,000 worth of playground equipment. If you’d like to donate mail your check to Scandinavia Booster Club, P.O. Box 232, Scandinavia, WI 54977-0232, or drop off at ScandiHus. Note “Playground” in the memo line of the check.
  • CHRISTMAS WREATHS: Just in time for the cold weather and flakes of snow, our holiday wreath fundraiser has begun! This fundraiser helps support the Iola Winter Sports Club’s Youth Ski Program. Pick up yours now while the selection is great; wreaths are available at IWSC and at the Sentry grocery store. Pay in the red metal box by the kiosk at IWSC or inside the Sentry grocery store.
  • BLOOD DRIVE: The Iola Lions are sponsoring a blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Iola-Scandinavia Fitness and Aquatic Center. To make an appointment for a donation go to 1-800-733-2767.
  • OPEN PIT MINING: The issue of the open pit sand mine on Iola Car Show property will next be presented/discussed at the Dec. 14 meeting of the Town of Scandinavia Board, which h meeting starts at 5 p.m. in the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
  • SCHOOL PROJECTS: Iola-Scandinavia School District contractors have been reviewing plans for the Tech Ed Lab. A second Fab Lab Grant has been applied for. The first Fab Lab Grant equipment has been installed and is being used by students.
  • SCHOOL DISTRICT SURVEY: The Strategic Plan Committee of the I-S School District met on Sept. 28 and four committee members are preparing a survey to be sent out districtwide. Feedback from the survey will be covered at the committee’s Dec. 7 meeting.
  • CELL TOWER IN SCANDINAVIA: The school district is working with Verizon Wireless for a lease of property usage in the Village of Scandinavia or an 100×100-foot area with easements for access and utilities for an initial five-tear term with nine five-year renewal terms at $650 per month and an increase per term of 10 percent. There is an option fee of $1,000. It is located on Parcel 28 15 41 9.
