Steven W. Wright
December 30, 1967 – September 2, 2021
Steven Wayne Wright, age 53, of Lomira, Wisconsin, formerly of Iola, Wisocnsin, passed away Sept. 2, 2022, at St Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, from COVID-19 complications.
Steven was born Dec. 30, 1967, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Glenn Wright and Shirley (Striegel) Shuda.
Steven was an altar boy from 4th to 8th grade at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Waupaca, Wisconsin. He started earning money young by delivering newspapers in Iola. During high school, he worked at the local IGA grocery store. Steven also played basketball for four years.
Steven attended UW-La Crosse for one year before entering the U.S. Navy in 1988. Steven served on the USS Mariano G. Vallejo, the USS City of Corpus Christi, and the USS Alexandria. His theaters of operation included: the Caribbean Sea, the Mediterranean Sea, the Persian Gulf, the Atlantic Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and the Arctic Circle. He was a Nuclear Power Instructor at Balston Spa, New York. Steven achieved the rating of E-6 Machinist Mate First Class (Nuclear) and was also an Emergency Welder. Steven was honorably discharged in August 2001. Steven received many commendations during his 13 years of service.
In 2013, Steven helped his father Glenn open Knowles Gold and Silver. Steven helped with everyday operations and all technical computer work. Steven and Glenn attended many coin shows over the years and made many friends in the process.
Steven is survived by his mother Shirley Shuda of Iola; his sister Amy Wright of Frederic, Wisconsin; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life including Military Honors will be held Saturday, June 25, at Voie Funeral Home in Iola at 11 a.m. Father Xavier Santiago will officiate. Visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home. Entombment of cremains will be in the Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King, Wisconsin.
