Maria Stake, an educator with a strong background, has joined the ranks of Iola-Scandinavia School District as a Special Education teacher.
Stake’s educational journey began at Wautoma Area School District, where she completed her K-12 education. She continued her studies at the UW-Eau Claire, earning degrees in both Elementary and Special Education in 2022.
Having lived in various places such as Wautoma and Eau-Claire, Wisconsin, Stake later ventured to Houston, Texas, where she established connections within the local family, community, and school networks. Stake’s immediate family includes her parents and a younger brother, the latter of whom is pursuing degrees in Education and History at UW-Whitewater.
At home, they share their lives with their cherished companions, a cat named Draco and a dog named Blue, who provide delightful company and help alleviate her parents’ empty nest syndrome.
Currently residing in Stevens Point, Stake is eager to embark on her role within the Iola-Scandinavia School District. The district’s vibrant sense of community and unwavering support for dedicated educators like Stake attracted her to this opportunity.
Stake’s career path in education was influenced by a deep sense of vocation. As a former student, she aspired to be the kind of teacher who stands at the forefront of the classroom. She is committed to lifelong learning and is driven to ignite students’ enthusiasm for education. Stake firmly believes in the inherent joy of learning and the essential role knowledge plays in the lives of students across all age groups.
Beyond her professional pursuits, Stake nurtures various hobbies, including reading, writing, painting, and enjoying diverse genres of music. She also treasures the moments spent visiting her family.
If circumstances permitted, she would gladly return to Costa Rica, a country she holds dear. Costa Rica offers a unique blend of tourist attractions and volunteer opportunities.
An intriguing facet of Stake’s personality is her distinct linguistic style. She often incorporates playful and quirky language, using unconventional words and phrases that inject humor and creativity into her interactions. Stake frequently finds herself combining words, playfully distorting classic sayings, and infusing her speech with a touch of whimsy.
