Mary Schwartz has retired from the Iola Car Show staff after 41 years of employment. She started at the car show in 1983.

Prior to her employment with the car show, she was active with the Iola Jaycees/Jaycettes in volunteering her time in the Swap Meet area.

“It’s impossible to put into a few years what an incredible person she is, and how strong her impact has been on so many. Dedication and work ethic like hers can’t be replaced,” the show’s Facebook post stated.

Some of the comments online about her retirement follow.

Congratulations to an absolute gem- one in a million. No matter the stress level- always a smile. – Barb Schultz

As the liaison to the Wisconsin Hearse Association, Mary was an absolute pleasure to work with. She gave our niche little club an opportunity to be a part of something much greater than our selves. When a question or rare issue came up, I was never in doubt we’d get a quick answer from her. I confidently speak for all represented members from the WHA in wishing her a happy and enjoyable retirement. – Wes Merkel

I’m teary watching the memories. Enjoy your retirement to the fullest! You will be missed greatly! – Jeanne Opperman

On behalf of anyone who’s ever attended the show, thank you for your years of service, professionalism, and hospitality! Your shoes will not be easy to fill! Sincerest wishes for a long and happy retirement! – Michael Danihlik
