About $85,000 is left to raise in the phase

BY DALE BESTUL
I’m excited to share an update on our auditorium improvement project! The response to our fund-raising efforts has been overwhelming!
We have a current fund-raising goal of $400,000 and I am happy to report we are only about $85,000 short of our goal! Enough donations have already come in so we were able to order the new curtains, new lighting system, new sound system, and most recently we have been able to order all the new mics.
The installation work is being done right now along with the construction of the incredible new sound booth, which is part of the new high school entrance project. When school begins in the fall, the auditorium will be ready to go! This also means that we will no longer have to borrow the sound equipment from Amherst for our musical next February!
The balance of the auditorium project will be completed as the additional funds are raised. This includes sound treatments for the walls, cyclorama backdrop lighting, a Loop System for the hearing impaired, a new stage floor, new carpet, and new video projection equipment.
The School District of Iola-Scandinavia plans to hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for the new high school entrance on Wednesday, August 27, at 5:30 p.m. We will also be showing off our new auditorium upgrades that evening. Mark your calendars and join us for the ribbon-cutting event if you are able.
I can’t thank you enough for your support of our community, school, musical program, and the kids that will benefit from these upgrades!
Please reach out if you have any questions about the project or making a donation.
Wishing you a great rest of your summer!
