Conditions of operation at the sand mine on Shady Drive in the Town of Scandinavia were adopted on Jan. 13, 2021.
In lieu of the Jan. 4 townhall hearing for the Town of Scandinavia on the Iola Car Show sand mine, these conditions are presented for public information of facts.
Below are those conditions.
“Hours of operation will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to Noon on Saturday. No Sundays or Holidays.
“Route to/from the gravel pit is restricted to the portion of Shady Dr. between E1996 Shady Dr. (pit entrance) and State Road 49.
“No hauling of any kind during the Spring road limit season. This will be determined by the County Highway Dept. schedule for county roads. The Town follows the same schedule.
“Use of the pit is for extraction and trucking of material only. No crushing, processing or blasting allowed.
“Hotmix/coldmix processing not allowed, but if desired in the future, it will be determined at a later date with a new application and public hearing.
“If noise becomes a problem, MCC, Inc will work with Town officials and residents to mitigate issues.
“MCC, Inc to establish a Point of Contact (POC) for both Town officials and residents of Shady Rd. to help mitigate issues, and address concerns with both the property to be mined, and ongoing road maintenance for Shady Rd.”
