Scandinavia Village Board to vote on alcohol licenses, zoning updates, and park development

The Scandinavia Village Board will convene for its monthly meeting at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, in the Community Room of the Scandinavia Municipal Center at 349 N. Main St. The board is expected to discuss and potentially act on a series of significant agenda items, including zoning modifications, a sewer infrastructure update, the fire department’s vehicle acquisition, park enhancements such as a sand volleyball court, and multiple license applications related to alcohol, tobacco, and operator permits.

Village trustees will first address several pieces of unfinished business, including the ongoing zoning project, which could lead to new development parameters in the community. Updates on the sewer system and the anticipated fire truck, led by Gary Marx, will also be presented, offering clarity on progress and future expenditures. Recreational improvements may be on the horizon, as the board will consider plans for a new sand volleyball court in Sentral Park, along with deck and beer garden requests from Happy Daaze, a local establishment seeking expansion.

Among new business, a range of licensing applications is slated for review. These include alcohol beverage licenses, retail permits for cigarettes, tobacco, and electronic vaping devices, as well as operator license requests. The board will also examine a proposed amendment to Title 2, Chapter 2 of the municipal code concerning Village Board governance. Additionally, members will weigh an offer to purchase several lots in the AM-MAR Subdivision along Oak Street and deliberate on support for the Viking Baseball Club’s use of Ellison Park.

The board will consider adopting a Compliance Maintenance Annual Report (CMAR) resolution as part of its environmental compliance strategy. The session will conclude with financial reviews, including approval of bills, verification of cash fund balances, and a year-to-date financial summary before adjournment. All items are open for discussion and possible action, with the public encouraged to attend and provide input.
