Scandinavia Municipal Center

The Scandinavia Village Board convened its regular monthly meeting on Friday, Dec. 12, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center in Scandinavia. Members present were President David Mork, Trustees Mike Hayes, Kelton Wilhite, Kyle Swenson, Daniel Koehler, Clerk Alison Dunham, Deputy Clerk Mike Stockwell, and Treasurer Bob Fredy.

The meeting focused on municipal updates, zoning and sewer issues, license approvals, and the placement of a new parking sign, actions considered crucial for maintaining community standards and supporting ongoing village operations.

No public comments were presented during the designated period.

The board discussed recent zoning activities, including updates to residential permits and inspections for ongoing property developments. Sewer maintenance was addressed, with the board reviewing recent repairs and scheduling upcoming inspections to ensure system reliability. A motion was made to allocate funds for continued sewer line assessment, seconded and approved.

Actions regarding the municipal parking lot and curb were reviewed. Hayes will contact American Asphalt concerning the parking lot. No one was present to address curb cutting at 315 Pleasant Street.

Business and license applications

Several business license applications were presented for board consideration. All alcohol and tobacco licenses were approved.

The board unanimously approved purchasing signs for all roads coming into the village per legal counsel’s advice.

Library Director Meredith Miller requested a credit card for her to use for library purchases. The Board suggested the library set up accounts with vendors with terms as an alternative. The village clerk’s credit card might also be utilized where an account with terms isn’t available.

Operator licenses for 265 North Main Street will be reviewed when the sale of the property takes place. Other pending projects were reviewed and updated.

The Board approved payment of the bills as presented and the year-to-date financials.
