
The Scandinavia Town Board, chaired by Bryan Fuhs and including members Frank Bauer, Brenda Mazemke, Lonnie Pryzbylski and Mike Mazemke, convened on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at the Scandinavia Municipal Center to approve key administrative items including election workers for 2025-26 terms and payment of bills, ensuring smooth town operations and compliance with county requirements amid discussions on ongoing local issues like junk yards and road maintenance.
The meeting began at 5:32 p.m. following the Pledge of Allegiance, with public attendees including Kevin Dombrowski, Greg Ambrosius, Ken Mentzel, Joanne Mentzel, Jerry Kopecky, Amy Ording, Donna Mummery, Mark Riggenbach, Galynne Riggenbach, Rick Christenson, and Dawn Christenson.
Frank Bauer made a motion to approve the agenda, adding Election Workers 2025- 26 Terms to New Business, which Lonnie Pryzbylski seconded. The motion carried.
Frank Bauer then made a motion to accept the clerk’s minutes, seconded by Lonnie Pryzbylski. The motion carried.
Mike Mazemke presented the treasurer’s report for November 2025, noting a check register balance of $57,319.38 as of Nov. 30. Frank Bauer made a motion to accept the report, including moving $25,000 to contingency, seconded by Lonnie Pryzbylski. The motion carried.
On road issues, the chair addressed inquiries from new residents about snow removal procedures.
Under old business, the board noted that Waupaca County had revoked the conditional use permit for the Van Dyke Junk/Salvage Yard and would handle future issues. For the Ron Gavin Junk/Salvage Yard, Waupaca County Zoning provided recommendations to resolve the matter. Issues with Randy Stuczynski on Oak Ridge Road were being addressed with the owner and the Iola Car Show. There was no update on the Knauer conditional use permit or the Iola Ambulance Service’s new ambulance for 2027. The board continued efforts to fill open positions on the town board and planning commission.
New Business
In the new business, the board approved payment to Waupaca County for dog licenses paid after April 15. There was no new report on the Municipal Center parking lot.
Frank Bauer made a motion to approve election workers for 2025-26 terms, including Ronald Hardel, John Charleston, Terry Bobbe, Cathy Hardel, Melanie Draska, Kanice Walter, Mike Mazemke, and Dorothy Shaver, seconded by Lonnie Pryzbylski. The motion carried.
Frank Bauer made a motion to approve payment of presented bills, including those to the Village of Scandinavia for November expenses, County Materials for winter expenses, Town of Iola for highway expenses, Brauer Supply and Equipment for winter expenses, Sprinter Business for miscellaneous expenses, Waupaca County Treasurer for dog license outflows, and USPS for stamps, seconded by Lonnie Pryzbylski. The motion carried.
The board reviewed correspondence, including land use permit applications from Charles Diestler and Jodi Bergen, as well as a notice of intent to cut from the Wisconsin DNR for the Skunk Foster State Natural Area.
During public input, Greg Ambrosius inquired about the Iola Car Show sand mine appeal, with the board stating no further action would be taken. Amy Ording provided additional comments. Galynne Riggenbach discussed the Waupaca County Citizens for Fair Process and its intentions. Rick and Dawn Christenson raised concerns about plowing on Trinrud Road.
The next board meeting was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the Scandinavia Municipal Center.
