Scandinavia Corn Roast: Let’s Flamingle!

The annual Scandinavia Corn Roast is back with a sizzling lineup of events and festivities from Aug. 4-6, and this year’s theme is “Let’s Flamingle.” With a plethora of activities for people of all ages, the Corn Roast promises to be a fun-filled weekend for the whole community.

Visitors are encouraged to bring their family, friends, and a hearty appetite for a truly enjoyable weekend. The unlimited rides wristband, priced at $25 per day, will offer an array of exciting carnival rides to keep everyone entertained throughout the day.

The gates to the Corn Roast grounds will swing open at 4 p.m. on Aug. 4, kicking off the celebrations with the Cob Run 5k registration at 5 p.m. and the Vikings Softball Tournament at the same time. For those who love a bit of adrenaline, the Cob Run 5k will take place again at 6 p.m., followed by the exciting Mini Quick Carve event at 6 p.m., showcasing talented artisans’ carving skills.

In the evening, visitors can dance the night away at the Fireman’s Dance, featuring Grand Union, starting at 8 p.m., and the best part is, all the proceeds will go to support the Scandinavia Volunteer Fire Department.

On Aug. 5, the excitement continues with the Truck Pull registration starting at 9 a.m. followed by a vibrant parade through downtown Scandinavia at 10 a.m. The day will also feature the Vikings Softball Tournament, a Craft Fair from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and an All Class Reunion from 1-4 p.m. The ATV Pull registration will begin at 2 p.m., and the thrilling ATV Pull will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

In the evening, musical performances will set the stage ablaze with Dammit Jim playing from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and the band Wire & Nail will take the stage from 9:30 p.m. until midnight.

The festivities will conclude on Aug. 6, starting with church services led by Pastor Kent Wallace of Scandinavia Lutheran Church at 9 a.m. The Craft Fair will run again from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and visitors can relish delicious pies at the Pie Social starting at 10:30 a.m. Dakota Pongratz, an acclaimed Elvis tribute artist, will entertain the crowd from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Additionally, free corn will be available at 11 a.m., and the Farm and Antique Tractor Pull registration will begin at 10 a.m., with the event itself starting at 11 a.m. For the art enthusiasts, Face Painting will be available from noon to 4 p.m. and a Mini Quick Carve event at 12:30 p.m. will showcase more talented carvers.

The popular Swing Crew will take the stage from 1-5 p.m., and visitors can participate in the Quick Carve Auction and Master Auction starting at 1:30 p.m. The Vikings BABA Baseball game will also be held at 1:30 p.m.
