DOGE WISCONSIN-STYLE: Republican leaders formed the Government Operations, Accountability and Transparency, or GOAT, committee in January to root out waste and abuse in state government. Rep. Amanda Nedweski, R-Pleasant Prairie, who chairs the Wisconsin committee with the acronym GOAT, said the state-level effort will look different from DOGE, as it will be housed in the Legislature and not the executive branch. The state lawmakers on the committee also cannot make funding decisions outside of the normal budget process. Read The Cap Times story here.

FACTS ON EGG PRICES: There was a slaughter of 150 million egg-laying chickens ordered by the Biden administration in late 2024, which has led to a lack of chicken supply in this country, therefore, a lack of egg supply. A hen typically starts laying eggs between 20-24 weeks (5-6 months), and they lay more eggs in the spring and summer due to the long period of light.

CHINA LOSES COVID-19 CASE: The state of Missouri won a multi-billion dollar lawsuit against China for its role in the COVID-19 pandemic after none of the defendants showed up in court. A Missouri federal judge ordered China and the other defendants on Friday to pay the state “an amount of $24,488,825,457.00,” with post-judgment interest “at a rate of 3.91 percent, compounded annually.” Read the Daily Caller News Foundation story here.
