  • SPEECH MEDAL WINNERS: Five I-S High School students recently competed at the Wisconsin State Speech Festival at DeForest High School. Each medaled in the event and represented Iola-Scandinavia well! Aaron Jones (Poetry) and Ava Weinreis (Demonstration) both earned silvers, while Ella Thompson (Poetry), Grace Betker (Moment in History Speech), and Macayla Kizewski (informative) all brought home a bronze.
  • SENTRAL PARK PROJECT: Heavy machinery was seen at Scandinavia’s Sentral Park preparing ground for the installation of new playground equipment.
  • THANK YOU HONOR SOCIETY: Over the months of February and March, the Iola-Scandinavia National Honor Society worked to raise money for Old Glory Honor Flight, a local organization that facilitates trips for veterans to visit war memorials in Washington D.C. Through a 50/50 raffle, a paper airplane contest, a bake sale, and a pie-a-teacher contest, the students were able to raise over $1600, enough to send three veterans on a trip!
  • STUDENTS CELEBRATE EARTH DAY: Iola-Scandinavia School District students participate din engaging activities to mark Earth Day. 4K/ELC celebrating got crafty and made planet Earth replicas. Students in Mrs. Draska’s class visited DNR Forester, Travis Larson, and completed the outdoor gratitude scavenger hunt for Earth Day. Mrs. Fechter and Mrs. Breyhan’s classes were book buddies. Kindergarteners also have plants growing and they are waiting for their chicks to hatch!
  • LAKE IOLA: The Lake Iola Lake District recently constructed an information kiosk at the boat landing at Ingval Olson Park / Taylor Field with $500 in funding form a COVID grant from the district’s insurance carrier.
  • YOUTH EXCHANGE: Kylee Noack, a 16-year-old sophomore at Iola-Scandinavia High School, is the recipient of a $1000 grant from the Rotary Club of Waupaca for her exchange year in Germany. “I am excited to travel to Germany to learn a different culture and language. My family is German so I am really excited to see where my ancestors came from,” she said.
