REUNITED: Iola’s Dan Halverson found his grandmother Agnes Halverson’s piano in a Facebook posting that was giving the upright piano away. Dan learned to play the piano almost 67 years ago, and thus began his musical career. Congratulations Dan!

DRUG BUST: Two men are facing drug charges in Waupaca. Police conducted the search on May 28 at an apartment in the 600 block of Tower Road. Police confiscated 59.9 grams of cocaine, 504.1 grams of THC, and 14.7 grams of methamphetamine, and $300 in cash.

MILITARY JET ACTIVITY: There will be an increase in Wisconsin National Guard flight activity over central Wisconsin June 2-15 due to the 2025 Sentry North exercise (formerly Northern Lightning) at Volk Field with F-35s, F-16s, and other military aircraft scheduled to train between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. Aircraft flying above 30,000 feet are authorized by the FAA to operate at supersonic speeds within the Volk Military Operating Area, which may be audible at ground level.

MOTHER MISSING: Wisconsin Democrats have introduced a new bill titled the “Marriage and Family Equality Act,” which removes the word “mother” and replaces it with “pregnant person.” Read the PBS Wisconsin story here. State Rep. Brent Jacobson wrote in his “Jacobson Journal” newsletter, “Yesterday the Democrats doubled down on radical gender ideology and introduced a bill that replaces the word “mother” in state law over 370 times with terms like “pregnant person”. This is now the second time this session that Democrats have attempted to redefine motherhood to erase women.”

WISCONSIN SANCTUARY JURISDICTIONS: Homeland Security has included two Wisconsin cities and two counties in its list of jurisdictions that “obstruct the enforcement of Federal Immigration laws. These municipalities include Dane and Shawano counties and the cities of Milwaukee and Madison. DHS indicated, “Each jurisdiction listed will receive formal notification of its non-compliance with Federal statutes. DHS demands that these jurisdictions immediately review and revise their policies to align with Federal immigration laws and renew their obligation to protect American citizens, not dangerous illegal aliens.”
