GOLF RESULTS: The Iola-Scandinavia High School Golf Team played at Weymont Run Golf Course on April 10 and came in second of six teams, scoring 191. Weyauwega-Fremont won the event scoring 183. Leading golfers for I-S were senior Samuel Groeschl with a 42 and sophomore Mike Kirmse with a 43.

DEI IN SCHOOLS: Wisconsin is refusing to comply with a new federal directive aimed at eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in schools, potentially putting hundreds of millions in federal funding at risk. State Superintendent Jill Underly announced that Wisconsin school districts will not adhere to the April 3 order from the Department of Education (DOE) without further clarification. If the state refuses to comply, Wisconsin could lose roughly $216 million in Title I funds. Read the story here.

STUDENT VISAS AT UW CANCELED: According to a spokesperson for the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as of April 9 a total of 26 students have now had their visas revoked. Fifteen current students and 11 recent alumni on employment authorization were impacted. The Trump administration also canceled visas for 15 additional students at other University of Wisconsin campuses as of Thursday, a system spokesperson told WKOW 27 News.
