NEW BOARD MEMBER: Kelton Wilhite is the new Board member for the Village of Scandinavia. He fills the position of Bob Fredy, who became the village treasurer. He was approved by a 3-1 vote on Nov. 21.
CHET BUCKS: Chester Krause’s image graces the new Iola-Scandinavia Chamber of Commerce Chamber Bucks. December 16 is his 100th anniversary of birth. The local script can be acquired at BankFirst in Iola but residents must call the bank to reserve denominations prior to picking them up a the bank.
BLOOD DRIVE RESULTS: A total of 35 units of blood was collected at the Nov. 29 Iola Lions American Red Cross Blood Drive. Ruth Johnson reached a lifetime milestone of 50 donated units, and two other donors tallied a lifetime milestone of 35 units. Next blood drives are Feb 7, April 3, and June 5.

DEER HARVEST: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reported about 174,000 deer harvested in the 2023 gun season, down 17.6 percent from 2022 and roughly 11 percent below the state’s five-year average, reports Associated Press.
