Roger E. Olson

Roger E. Olson, 85, of Iola, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
He was born on July 30, 1939, in the Township of Iola to the late Emil and Gladys (Tubaas) Olson.
Roger married Gloria Myers on Sept. 12, 1959, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Iola. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 2024.
Roger was employed at Wolding Trucking, Superior Electric, Waupaca Foundry, and retired from the Central Wisconsin Electric Cooperative after 40-plus years of service. In retirement, he worked for Faldet Farms.
He and Gloria did many things together: snowmobiling, golfing, traveling, and hunting out West, just to name a few. He operated a tree trimming business and was a very proud owner and head coach of Rogers Tree Trimmers Ladies softball team, which played in league games at Taylor Field in the 1980s.
Roger enjoyed life and helping people. It was not uncommon to see him lend a hand to local civic organizations that had special projects such as the Iola Car Show, Norseman Hill, Glacier Wood Golf Club, Scandinavia Booster Club-Corn Roast, and many more. He also cut grass for many people in the area and would often be seen hauling his John Deere lawn mower in his trailer behind his red Chevy blazer.
Roger is survived by: his children Scott (Sheila) Olson, Shelly (Jim) Vollmer, and Sherri Floistad; grandchildren Tanner (Sophia) Olson, Samantha (Thomas) Wilz, Nathan Domask, Dexter Domask, Kuhrtis (Mariah) Floistad, and Meranda Floistad; great-grandchildren Ruth, Zayden, Leland, Finley, Gannyn, and Lyle; brother Lavern Olson; niece Debbie; nephews Robert, Doug, and Bruce; sisters-in-law Roberta Frankow and Connie (Vern) Wendt; brothers-in-law Glenn (Linda) Myers and Herbert (Ronda) Myers; along with nieces-in-law, nephews-in-law, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria; parents; son-in-law Harold Floistad; sister Beverly Olson; sisters-in-law Kristine Shambeau and Nancy Olson; and brothers-in-law Robert Alan Myers and James Frankow.
Roger’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Iola, with Rev. Gail Kenny, who will be assisted by Rev. Dale Wilson. Visitations will be held at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola on Tuesday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday, April 2, from 9-10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery.
