Waupaca GOP chair disagrees with Petersen
In a press release dated Aug. 12, State Rep. Kevin Petersen (R-Waupaca) stated, “I support the Speaker’s move to close the Office of the Special Council. This past session, along with my Assembly colleagues, I voted for a series of bills that would have addressed concerns that were uncovered by both the Office of the Special Council and the non-partisan Legislative Audit Bureau. Unfortunately, Governor Evers vetoed them. In the next session, I will continue fighting for election integrity and fair elections.”
He also commented on the Michael Gableman investigation into election integrity in Wisconsin.
“Over the last couple weeks, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman has been releasing blatant falsehoods that Speaker Robin Vos (R – Rochester) has never wanted a real investigation into the 2020 election. Today (Aug. 12) Speaker Vos, after considering comments from many members of the Republican Assembly caucus, closed the Office of the Special Counsel.”
This press release brought out a statement to members of the Waupaca County Republican Party by Chairman Joel Bartel.
He noted, “… I am concerned by what Robin Vos did on Friday (Aug. 12) by cancelling the Gableman’s investigation. … I usually agree with Kevin Petersen on most issues, but I 100% disagree with Kevin’s press release, and I encourage members to reach out to his office and express your opinion. Finally, Robin Vos should not be speaker again, he won his seat by just over 200 votes, and no longer has a mandate!”
