On Monday, June 22, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released an 87-page document on how to safely return to school in the fall. We are in the process of reviewing this plan with stakeholders in our community and school. The DPI plan outlines several possible scenarios. This plan includes many recommendations but these are not requirements.
The Iola-Scandinavia School District is looking at developing our plan using this resource. We have developed a committee of 25 stakeholders that includes administration, teachers, board members, and community members. Our plan will be released to the community by the middle of July. The plan will include the safest way for us to open our schools and include alternatives for students. In addition, we will be developing alternative plans if things change locally.
We encourage our students and families to continue practicing social distancing and adhere to the guidelines provided by the CDC and other entities so we can return to normal as soon as possible.
